How To Save Money On Car Insurance: Keep Your Car Standard for Lower Car Insurance

The cheapest cars to insure are the bog standard, run of the mill, ten a penny type cars . . . they’re cheaper to insure because they’re cheap to repair, less likely to be stolen and have a good safety record. Right, so let’s say you’ve followed all of the instructions on buying a car which has naturally lower insurance costs, but what you really want to do is to allow your wheels to reflect your personality. A car is an extension of you, right?

First of all, there are some things which will increase your car insurance premiums through the roof (tuning up the engine, adding expensive chrome bits and pieces, beefy exhausts etc) well, either your insurance premiums will soar or, if you decide not to tell the insurance company about your “added extras”, your insurance will be invalid if you ever need to claim on it.

There are ways, however, in which you can personalize your car without compromising on cheaper car insurance – fluffy dice dangling from the rear view mirror / “go-faster” stripes / nylon animal print seat covers / an “I heart NY” bumper sticker / – get the idea?
